Saint Bernard

The Saint Bernard is a very large dog, with a massive head; either long and rough, or smooth coat; originally bred at the Hospice of St. Bernard in the Alps.

Saluki (Persian Gazelle Hound)

The Saluki is one of the oldest historic breeds; introduced into the West from the Orient; large, speedy and graceful, like the greyhound, with silky coat; hunts by sight and does not bark.

Samoyed

Samoyed dog The Samoyed is a strong, medium­sized, thick-furred white dog from Asiatic Russia. Used as a sledge dog.

Schipperke

The Schipperke is small, black, with a fox-like head, erect ears, square and firmly-built body, thick hair, docked tail. The name 'Schipperke' is Flemish for "little skipper," coming from its use in Flanders as a watch-dog and ratter on barges.

Schnauzer

The Schnauzer is a strongly built German dog; pepper and salt colouring ; wire coat, bristling moustache and beard; miniature, medium and giant, or Riesenschnauzer varieties; also called wire-haired pinscher.

Schnauzer - Giant

The Giant Schnauzer is the same as the standard Schnauzer apart from its size.

Schnauzer - Miniature

The Miniature Schnauzer is the same as the standard Schnauzer apart from its size and and it can be black with silver markings.

Scottish Terrier (Scottie)

The Scottish Terrier has a long stocky body and short legs; rough hair; black, grey, sandy, or grizzled.

Sealyham Terrier

The Sealyham Terrier breed was developed in Wales. They have a long body, short sturdy legs, wiry hair; mainly white, with occasional markings of brown, tan or yellow.

Shar Pei

This is an ancient breed of dog that almost became extinct but has now become more popular.

Shetland Sheepdog

The Shetland Sheepdog is a small collie and is a very popular breed throughout the world.

Shih Tzu

The Shih Tzu breed is thought to be of Chinese or Tibetan origin.

Siberian Husky

Silky Toy Terrier

The Silky Toy Terrier is a pure Australian breed that was bred to be a family pet.

Skye Terrier

The Skye Terrier is a small breed with long, hard hair falling to the ground. The Clydesdale terrier similar but has silky hair.

Sloughi (Arabian Greyhound)

The Sloughi is descended from the Egyptian Greyhound.

Staffordshire Bull Terrier

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier was originally developed as a fighting dog.

Sussex Spaniel

The Sussex Spaniel is a massive muscular hunter with an abundant golden­liver coat.

Swedish Vallhund

Has similar charachteristics to the Corgi suggesting they share the same origins.

Swiss Laufhund
