Camel

camels There are two types of camel, the Dromedary (Arabian Camel) and the Bactrian Camel. The Dromedary has a single hump and Bactrian has two humps. Camels can live for up to fifty years.

Capybara

The capybara is a large, but timid, rodent. They can be over 1.2 meters long. They like to live in groups. Capybaras eat grass and water plants.

Caracal

The caracal is a member of the cat family and is sometimes called the Persian lynx. They have short tawny brown fur and tufted blackish ears. Caracal eat small animals such as hares.

Chameleon

chameleon Chameleons belong to the lizard family. Their eyes can move independently of each other. They have very long tongues which they use to catch insects. Chameleons are able to change their skin color to help them blend in with their surroundings.

Cheetah

cheetah The cheetah is a member of the cat family and look very similar to leopards. Over short distances they are the fastest animal on earth - about 100km/h.

Chimpanzee

Chimpanzees

The chimpanzee likes to live in a group. They feed on plants and animal life. Chimpanzees have learned how to use tools such as stones for breaking nuts and sticks for getting termites out of holes.

Chinchilla

The chinchilla is about the size of a squirrel and lives in the Andes mountains of South America.

Condor

The condor is a type of vulture. It has wingspan of about 3 meters.

Cormorant

The cormorant usually lives on the coast but is sometimes found in rivers. They have webbed feet and live on fish.
